ABOUT THE ORGANIZER

Institute of Engineering and Management is the first institute for technical education established in West Bengal in non Government sector. The institute was established through a charitable trust by Prof. Dr. Satyajit Chakrabarti, a reputed academician and entrepreneur from IIT Kharagpur. The Institute is strategically located in the IT hub of the state. The institute prides itself for quality education and research. The alumni of students are placed in reputed organizations all over the World. It is ranked as1st self-financed institute of West Bengal by Ministry of HRD, Govt. of India after IIT Kharagpur, IIEST, NIT Durgapur and Jadavpur University. Eligible departments of IEM are NBA accredited and graded ‘A’ by NAAC.

After a successful journey of 30 years, IEM Trust has established University of Engineering & Management (UEM), at Jaipur and Kolkata through an Act passed by the State legislatures of Rajasthan and West Bengal respectively. These universities have World class facilities. In a short time they have earned a reputation for outcome based quality education.

During last 25 years, a silent technological revolution, affecting life and livelihood of large number of people all over the world has taken place. High end technologies like Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Robotics, 3D printing, Blockchain, Cryptography etc. have emerged. These have disrupted the employment scenario and created economic inequalities. There are growing fears of mass technological unemployment in near future. The consequences of these technological developments have to be dealt with effectively to save lives.

Massive efforts are needed from HR professionals, industrialists, politicians and governments to retrain manpower and to provide psychological support to the existing manpower.  Keeping the current job scenario in mind, the light at the end of the tunnel may be the skill development at junior level jobs.

To deal with these upcoming disruptive changes, we humbly invite you to enthusiastically participate and develop international network in the aforementioned conference and contribute towards meeting the new challenges regarding sustainable employment and livelihood.
